Auckland Skin & Cancer Foundation was established more than 16 years ago as a centre of excellence of comprehensive skin care management, and is situated in the heart of Remuera. Originally one of Remuera's stately homes, the building has been fully refurbished to provide a state-of-the-art medical and surgical facility, while retaining the charm of its heritage.

We are very conveniently located close to the Southern Motorway and within an easy walk of the Remuera village (shops, cafes, pharmacies), local bus stops, and the Remuera train station. Newmarket shopping centre is less than two kilometres away. There is ample on-site parking and a turning bay making vehicle access in and out of the facility very easy.

We have recently completed major renovations on our first floor, front entrance, and main reception area to enhance the experience of your visit.

Reception and Consultation suite

From your first visit, you will be greeted by our friendly and professional front staff who will assist you prior to and after your consultation. They will help you through the booking procedure, should you and your specialist decide surgery or any other procedure is required. A comfortable waiting room with complimentary Wi-Fi access is provided. Your dermatologist will meet you personally and show you to one of our consultation rooms which are furnished traditionally with carpet, wood, and leather, and contain a separate examination room for your privacy and comfort.

Surgical facilities

The foundation also houses its own theatre suite for surgical and laser procedures. There are eight theatre and procedure rooms, and a purpose-built laboratory for frozen section tissue processing and histological analysis required during Mohs micrographic surgery. Our surgical instruments are sterilised using the latest equipment in a three-stage sterilisation process including ultrasonic cleaning. While individual policies differ, medical insurance policies providing coverage for hospital and specialist care, generally readily reimburse theatre related expenses for their members.

A separate surgical waiting area provides a comfortable and private space if you are required to wait during any of our procedures. Our theatre staff will be more than happy to provide you with refreshments during your Mohs surgery session. Our complimentary WIFI service is also available in the theatre suite waiting area.

Both the consultation and theatre suites participate in a regular, extensive audit using the appropriate New Zealand Standards for medical and surgical facilities. The Audit is undertaken by the independent organisation, Health Audit NZ. We are also accredited by the New Zealand Dermatological Society.
